Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro
The Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro represents a major advancement in automated filament handling, delivering a highly controlled, fully sealed, and actively monitored storage and drying system for professional 3D printing environments. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the Bambu Lab X1, P1, A1, and H2 series, this next-generation multi-material management system supports up to 24-color and multi-material printing, offering exceptional consistency and reliability. With a carefully engineered airtight chamber, an advanced Active Air Vent drying mechanism reaching 65°C, and a high-precision brushless servo feeding motor, the AMS 2 Pro ensures optimal filament performance for demanding industrial, commercial, and engineering workflows.
Advanced 65°C Active Filament Drying for Superior Print Quality
Moisture absorption is one of the most significant causes of print defects such as brittleness, under-extrusion, layer separation, bubbling, and surface roughness. The AMS 2 Pro’s Active Air Vent system delivers precise thermal control with a drying capability of up to 65°C, effectively restoring optimal printability for materials such as PLA, PETG, PA, PC, ABS, ASA, PP, HIPS, and dried support materials like PVA and BVOH.
The active moisture discharge continuously removes internal humidity, ensuring that moisture does not accumulate during extended drying cycles. Built-in temperature and humidity sensors provide real-time environmental monitoring, accessible via the AMS 2 Pro display, Bambu Studio, and the Bambu Handy app, enabling users to maintain the highest material integrity at all times.
Airtight Filament Storage for Long-Term Stability
The AMS 2 Pro employs a fully air-tight storage design, isolating filament spools from external humidity and temperature fluctuations. The ABS/PC housing provides exceptional structural stability, heat resistance, and long-term durability. Whether used in industrial environments, high-volume print farms, or professional design studios, the system maintains ideal storage conditions to ensure that filaments remain ready for immediate and trouble-free printing.
This sealed environment is especially beneficial for hygroscopic materials such as nylons, polycarbonates, and engineering-grade filaments, reducing waste and improving consistency across long production cycles.
Multi-Color and Multi-Material Printing up to 24 Colors
One of the AMS 2 Pro’s defining features is its support for up to 24-color printing, enabling engineers, artists, and manufacturers to explore advanced material combinations, complex visual finishes, and layered functional parts.
When paired with compatible Bambu Lab printers, the AMS 2 Pro allows seamless automated filament switching that eliminates color bleed, misfeeds, jams, or tangled spools.
The brushless servo feeding motor offers high torque, silent performance, and millimeter-level feeding accuracy, ensuring that filament transitions remain stable even during complex multi-material or multi-color jobs.
Compatibility and Upgrade Requirements
When choosing the AMS 2 Pro, users should consider compatibility factors to ensure optimal performance:
- X1/P1/A1 Series: Requires a switching adapter to activate the drying function. This adapter is included in the official AMS 2 Pro Upgrade Kit.
- H2 Series: The H2 printer can power any connected AMS 2 Pro for drying without the need for additional adapters, unless multiple AMS units are operated simultaneously.
- X1E Users: The filament drying feature is currently under testing and not yet supported.
Selecting the correct configuration ensures full access to the AMS 2 Pro’s drying, feeding, and multi-material capabilities.
Wide Material Support for Engineering Applications
The AMS 2 Pro supports a broad spectrum of printing materials used in mechanical parts, industrial prototyping, functional components, and integrated multi-material printing. This includes PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PA, PC, PP, POM, HIPS, specialty Bambu Lab CF-infused filaments, and flexible materials suitable for AMS feeding such as TPU.
Materials requiring drying temperatures above 65°C (such as PAHT-CF, PC-blend, or high-temperature nylons) cannot be fully dried and should be processed using the Bambu Lab AMS HT for optimal performance.
Compact Industrial-Grade Design
Engineered for efficiency, the AMS 2 Pro features a compact form factor measuring 372 × 280 × 226 mm with a lightweight 2.5 kg body constructed from high-strength ABS/PC. The internal airflow geometry ensures consistent thermal distribution across all storage zones, enabling even drying performance during prolonged operations.
Its robust build quality, advanced environmental monitoring, and industrial-grade components make it ideal for professional workshops, product development labs, small-batch manufacturing facilities, and print farms requiring continuous, high-quality output.
